If God loves me, why doesn't he end suffering?

Think about God’s ultimate plan to deal with suffering…

22 “He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in his mouth.”

23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to him who judges justly. 24 “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”

1 Peter 2:22-24

1.) Who is this talking about?

2.) What did he do for us?

3.) What did he face to do that?

4.) What does that mean for us?

And a picture of what’s to come…

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Revelation 21:3-4

1.) If you trust in Jesus, what does God have in store for you?

2.) What will no longer exist there?

3.) What will exist there and why is that good news?

God is ending suffering in the most loving way. He has a plan!

Remember, all our sin deserves God’s judgment. We deserve hell. But Jesus took the punishment we deserve on the cross. His suffering has healed our eternal suffering.

Suffering will end for those who trust in Jesus. Do you believe that?
